Occupy Naperville May Day 2015

Just Views: Black Lives Matter: Confronting Police Abuse and Racism

Friday, May 8, 2015 at 7:20 pm: Black Lives Matter: Confronting Police Abuse and Racism

When a white police officer killed Michael Brown in August of 2014, it ignited a new civil rights movement to draw
attention to the abuse of police power, specifically in killing of unarmed black men across our nation. As activists in cities
across the nation protest the latest killing of Freddie Gray in Baltimore, we ask why this continues month after month.
How many more must die before we change? All lives matter.

Join us as we examine clips from “Democracy Now”, “The Guardian” newspaper, and activist video of Black Lives Matter marches and events in Chicago. We will discuss the controversial subject of police abuse of power, the killing of unarmed black men, and the overall issue of racism in America. Resource people from Occupy Naperville will join us for discussion.
