Occupy Naperville in 2014

In 2014 Occupy Naperville was active and busy trying to stop the destruction of American democracy.
Here is a short recap of our year in Activism.

January 18

Challenge Duckworth on the TPP

Occupy Naperville joined Occupy Elgin, Northern Illinois Jobs with Justice, fair trade activists, labor activists, environmentalists, occupiers and the Northern Illinois Light Brigade in protesting Elgin Township Democrats Eleanor Roosevelt Dinner Saturday, January 18, 2014 to challenge Congresswoman speaker Tammy Duckworth to take a stand against Fast Track for the TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership). Mary from Occupy Elgin went in and challenged Duckworth during the dinner on her TPP position. Like a typical politician she would not commit and spun her answers like a master DJ.

We joined the Illinois Fair Trade Coalition in sending Rep Mike Quigley a message NO TPP

March against S1881 -NO IRAN WAR or SANCTIONS

Occupy Naperville participated in an ANTI-WAR and SANCTIONS march.

The day we fought back

February 11th, 2014 was The Day We Fight Back against mass surveillance on the internet and in our society. The Occupy Naperville website participated.

Tell Bill Foster NO TPP

ON members went to Bill Foster’s Aurora office to send him a message NO TPP.

McCutcheon Protest

Members of Occupy Naperville joined with NIJWJ to protest the Supreme Court decision in favor of McCutcheon which lets individuals contribute upward of $3.6 million to a single party and its candidates. South Protest was in front of Sam’s Club on Randall rd. in Elgin.

March against the Mainstream Media

Organized by members of Anonymous, we supported the march against the Corporate Media.

Protest Staples

Members of Occupy Naperville protested Staples and the U.S. Postal Service who cut a no-bid deal between Staples and the Postal Service to set up postal counters inside 82 of the office-supply stores in four test markets – staffed with untrained, low-wage Staples employees.

Global Frackdown

Occupiers and Fractivists targeted IL State Sen. Dan Harmon who chairs the committee that made key decisions on fracking rules.The rules were passed with virtually no debate.

¡Close the #SOA! Resist Empire & Militarization!

SOA Watch’s 25th anniversary Vigil at Ft. Benning, GA converged at the gates of Fort Benning once again to remember the martyrs, and to denounce the continued SOA violence against our brothers and sisters in Latin America.

We joined with Northern Illinois Jobs with Justice to protest Walmart in Elgin  being open on Thanksgiving.

Members went to Chicago for a rally against injustice at home and abroad on International Human Rights Day!
